Chapter 9 - Two Worlds Colliding

The wedding of Nicolás Velasco and Sofía Reyes was not held in a grand cathedral with aristocratic guests and paparazzi lining the streets. It was held in the expansive gardens of the Bosques de las Lomas mansion, under a canopy of white roses and simple string lights.
The guest list was a beautiful, surreal reflection of their merged lives. Sitting on one side were high-ranking shipping executives and city officials who had supported Nicolás’s turn toward legitimacy. Sitting on the other side were Sofía’s colleagues from the General Hospital—nurses in their best Sunday dresses, residents in borrowed suits, and Don Esteban, who sat in the front row as an honored guest rather than a servant.
Valeria Serrano attended as well, looking stunning and radiantly happy in a simple pastel dress. She walked up to Sofía before the ceremony, holding a small silver box.
"This belonged to my grandmother," Valeria said, opening it to reveal a beautiful, antique sapphire hair pin. "It’s for something blue. Thank you, Sofía. Thank you for giving my son his father back, and for giving me the freedom to find my own path."
The two women embraced, a final closure to the old contract that had once bound the family in chains.
When Sofía walked down the aisle, her dress was made of simple, elegant white linen—no gold threads, no imported lace, just pure, clean fabric that caught the late afternoon sun.

Nicolás stood at the altar, holding Mateo in his arms. As Sofía reached him, Mateo let out a cheerful "Ma!"—his very first word—and reached his tiny arms toward her.
The guests laughed and clapped, and tears rolled down Sofía’s cheeks as she took her place beside the two men who had become her entire world.
