Chapter 11 - The Kidnapping
The attack happened at 11:43 p.m.
The lights went out.
The security system failed.
The guards disappeared.
Rosa grabbed Isabella.
But the window shattered.
A man entered.
Marcus tackled him.
They crashed into the wall.
Marcus fought desperately.
The man escaped through the window.
But Isabella was gone.
Rosa screamed.
"ISABELLA!"
Marcus ran downstairs.
A black SUV disappeared into traffic.
He stood frozen.
His niece had been taken.
His mother had been hunted.
His company was collapsing.
And for the first time in his life, Marcus had something to lose that money couldn't replace.
He called Victor.
Victor answered.
"Good evening, Marcus."
"Where is she?"
"Who?"
"Isabella."
Victor laughed.
"You finally understand."
"What do you want?"
"The Harrington trust."
"You'll never get it."
"Perhaps."
Victor paused.
"But you will."
Marcus gripped the phone.
"How?"
"Because you'll sign everything over."
"And if I don't?"
Victor's voice became cold.
"You'll never see your niece again."
The call ended.
Marcus looked at Rosa.
She was crying.
Marcus wiped her tears.
"I'll bring her home."
Rosa whispered:
"What if you can't?"
