They found Eleanora in a private rehabilitation facility outside Albany.
Marcus walked into the room.
His mother was sitting beside a window.
Older.
Thinner.
But alive.
Marcus stopped breathing.
"Mom?"
She turned.
Her eyes filled with tears.
"Marcus."
He crossed the room and fell to his knees beside her.
For the first time since he was a child, Marcus cried without caring who saw.
She held his face.
"I'm sorry."
"You let me bury you."
"I had no choice."
"Why?"
"Because Victor was going to kill you."
Marcus shook his head.
"He already stole from me."
"He's planning something worse."
"What?"
She looked toward the door.
"Your company isn't what he wants."
Marcus frowned.
"Then what?"
"Your inheritance."
His mother revealed that the Harrington fortune contained a hidden trust worth more than $20 billion.
Victor had spent decades trying to access it.
But there was one condition.
The trust could only be transferred if Marcus and his blood relatives remained united.
Victor needed Rosa.
He needed Isabella.
And suddenly Marcus understood.
The entire birthday incident.
The photograph.
The threats.
The attacks.
None of it had been random.
