Chapter 6 - The Reclamation of Space

The extraction of Vivian’s influence from the Castillo mansion was a systematic, violent cleaning process. Alejandro hired a professional demolition crew to completely excavate the sub-basement vault, filling the hidden room with five tons of solid concrete until the space no longer existed within the earth.

The grand foyer was remodeled entirely. The white marble floor where Elena had been forced to kneel was replaced with warm, solid oak planks that reflected the natural sunlight from the high southern windows.

Elena stood by the kitchen window on a Tuesday afternoon, holding a warm cup of herbal tea. Her skin had regained its natural, healthy color, and the dark bruises around her wrists had faded into thin, silver lines that she no longer tried to hide.

"It smells different now," she said softly as Alejandro walked up behind her, his arms wrapping gently around her waist, his chest providing the unshakeable shield she had lacked for three years.

"It smells like your home again, Elena," he whispered, pressing a kiss against her soft hair.

"We need to go to Genoa, Alejandro," she said suddenly, turning in his arms, her eyes bright with a dangerous, focused intelligence. "The Moretti family is trying to liquidate the shipping assets before the federal freezing orders cross the Atlantic. My father built those lanes before the Morettis ever placed a single container ship in the harbor. I want them back."

Alejandro looked at the woman who had spent three years in a dark vault, only to emerge with the strategic vision of a conqueror. A bright, beautiful smile finally broke across his face—the first real smile in three years.

"Marcus," Alejandro called out toward the open doorway.

"Already prepped the private jet, boss," Marcus said, stepping into view with a stack of international flight manifests. "Flight clearance for Genoa is locked in for 0600 tomorrow morning. The tactical team is already on the ground in Italy."
