Chapter 1 - The Tactical Lockdown

The grand foyer of the Castillo mansion became an impenetrable fortress in a matter of seconds. Alejandro did not lay his hands on Vivian; instead, his arm locked like a steel bar across the grand staircase, trapping her against the heavy mahogany banister. The sheer, overwhelming aura of his fury was enough to pin her in place.

"Marcus!" Alejandro roared, his voice rattling the crystal tears of the chandeliers above.

From the shadows of the secondary hallway, Marcus Vance, the head of Castillo Security and a former black-ops logistics commander, materialized instantly. Behind him stood four heavily armed tactical guards clad in civilian suits.

"Lock down the estate," Alejandro commanded, his eyes never leaving Vivian’s rapidly draining face. "No one enters. No one leaves. Shut down the main gates, cut the external Wi-Fi routing, and secure every cellular jamming device on the perimeter. If a single byte of data leaves this house before the authorities arrive, I will hold you personally responsible."

"Copy that, boss," Marcus said, his voice a low, mechanical rumble. He pulled a heavy encrypted radio from his belt and began barking orders. Within seconds, the distant, heavy thud of the mansion's iron perimeter gates slamming shut echoed through the thick glass windows.

Vivian dropped her wine glass. It shattered against the marble stair tread, dark red liquid splattering across the hem of her designer silk dress like fresh blood. "Alejandro, you are losing your mind!" she shrieked, her feline confidence instantly evaporating into high-pitched panic. "You can't do this! I am a prominent investor in Castillo Holdings! My family controls the shipping lanes in Genoa! You think you can just imprison me?"

"You didn't just imprison an investor, Vivian," Alejandro said, his voice dropping to a dangerous, vibrating whisper that cut through her screams like a razor. "You imprisoned my wife. In my house. For one thousand and ninety-five days."

He turned away from her as if she were nothing more than dust on the steps. He dropped to his knees on the cold, wet marble, completely ignoring the dirty water soaking into his expensive Italian trousers.

"Elena," he whispered, his hands trembling violently as he reached out.

Elena flinched automatically, a deep, instinctual survival response drilled into her bones by three years of systematic abuse. But as she looked into Alejandro’s eyes—eyes that had wept for her every single night, eyes that had searched the dark corners of the earth for her ghost—the rigidity in her spine softened. She let go of the dirty rag. Her bruised, calloused fingers reached out, touching his cheek, verifying that he was flesh and blood, not another cruel hallucination born of her confinement.

"Alejandro..." she choked out, her voice cracked and raw from years of enforced silence. "It’s really you. You came back."

"I never stopped looking for you, my love," Alejandro said, his throat tightening as he pulled her fragile, shivering body against his chest. He stood up, lifting her effortlessly in his arms, shielding her from the stares of the terrified servants who stood frozen in the grand foyer. "Marcus, take the Moretti woman to the wine cellar. Secure her to the structural pillar. If she moves, if she speaks, treat her as an active threat."
