Chapter 13 - THE LAST BETRAYAL
Richard was arrested.
But the nightmare wasn't over.
The evidence revealed that Charles Sanders had secretly helped him.
Amanda's father had known about the twins.
He had helped conceal them.
Amanda confronted him.
“You told me Richard would never hurt anyone.”
Charles laughed.
“I told you what you needed to hear.”
Amanda slapped him.
“You ruined my life.”
“No.”
He looked at Daniel.
“He ruined yours.”
Daniel stepped forward.
“You're going to prison.”
Charles smiled.
“You think you won?”
He leaned closer.
“Your father's company is collapsing.”
Daniel's phone rang.
His CFO.
“Mr. Harden, we have a problem.”
Daniel listened.
Then looked at Rachel.
“The board is voting tonight.”
Rachel understood.
“They're trying to remove you.”
Daniel nodded.
“Because of the scandal.”
He had lost the wedding.
The trust.
His father's secrets were public.
His company was crashing.
For the first time in his life, Daniel had nothing.
Except Rachel.
And the twins.
Rachel took his hand.
“You still have us.”
Daniel looked at her.
“I don't deserve you.”
“No.”
She smiled sadly.
“You don't.”
He laughed.
She squeezed his hand.
“But you can spend the rest of your life trying.”
Daniel kissed her forehead.
