Chapter 10 - THE SECRET CLAUSE

At the estate, Daniel discovered a hidden room behind his father's library.
Inside was a safe.
Rachel watched as Daniel entered the combination.
The door opened.
There was no money.
No jewelry.
Only documents.
One envelope.
Daniel opened it.
His father's final letter.
Daniel,
If you found this, Richard has already made his move.
There is one truth I never told you.
Rachel's mother saved your life.
Daniel stared.
The letter explained that Richard had attempted to poison Daniel when he was twenty-nine.
Rachel's mother discovered it.
She warned Charles.
That was why Charles trusted her.
But Richard discovered she knew.
The night Rachel's mother supposedly died of cancer, she had actually been poisoned.
Rachel covered her mouth.
Daniel held her.
She cried silently.
Then they found the final clause.
The twins were legal heirs.
And because they had been hidden from the trust, Richard could not access the company unless he eliminated them.
Rachel whispered:
“So they're in danger.”
Daniel nodded.
“Yes.”
“Because of your company.”
“No.”
He looked at her.
“Because they're my children.”
Rachel stared.
For the first time, she saw Daniel not as a billionaire.
Not as her former lover.
May you like
But as a father.
And he looked terrified.
