Chapter 11 - AMANDA'S CONFESSION
Amanda arrived at the estate alone.
Rachel almost refused to let her in.
Amanda looked exhausted.
“I came to tell you the truth.”
Daniel stood behind Rachel.
“Start talking.”
Amanda swallowed.
“My father worked with Richard.”
Daniel's jaw tightened.
“How long?”
“Years.”
“Why did you agree to marry me?”
“Because he threatened my brother.”
Rachel's expression softened slightly.
Amanda continued.
“Richard wanted access to your company.”
“And me?”
“You were supposed to marry me, have no children, and transfer control.”
Daniel laughed bitterly.
“So I was a business strategy.”
“Yes.”
Amanda looked at Rachel.
“I hated what I was doing.”
“Then why didn't you stop?”
“Because my brother would have died.”
Rachel stared.
Amanda pulled out her phone.
“There is one thing you need to see.”
A message.
From Richard.
IF DANIEL DISCOVERS THE TWINS, KILL THE MOTHER FIRST.
Rachel felt the room spin.
Daniel caught her.
Amanda began crying.
“I was supposed to give Richard your location.”
“You did?”
“No.”
“Why?”
Amanda looked at Rachel.
“Because I have a daughter too.”
Rachel froze.
Amanda whispered:
“I know what it's like to protect a child.”
Daniel looked at her.
“Where is your brother?”
Amanda's eyes filled with terror.
“He's gone.”
