Chapter 3 - The Threat Retaliated

The panic inside the mansion turned into absolute chaos. Savannah Pierce began screaming, trying to tear her hand away from Ryan as she realized the billionaire lifestyle she had traded her dignity for had just vanished into thin air.
"Ryan! You said you were rich! You said you were divorcing her and giving me everything!" she screamed, striking his chest with her manicured hands. "Get away from me! Don't touch me!"
"Savannah, wait! It's a mistake! My dad will fix it!" Ryan pleaded, his voice cracking with a pathetic, sniveling desperation. He turned toward the stretcher, trying to run toward me. "Vanessa! Please! Think about our son! Think about Hunter! You can't do this to your husband!"
Agent Vance intercepted Ryan, driving him back with a firm, unyielding hand against his chest. "Ryan Calloway, you are also being placed under emergency federal custody. Furthermore, the local police department has just arrived at the gates. You are being charged with felony domestic assault on a pregnant dependent."
"She fell!" Ryan lied frantically, sweat pouring down his face as he looked at the guests who were now filming his humiliation on their phones. "You all saw it! She tripped over the cake! She's unstable!"
"The entire event was being broadcasted via a hidden nanny-cam stream directly to our field office, Mr. Calloway," Agent Vance said, offering a cold, absolute smile. "We have you on a 4K digital recording striking a woman eight months pregnant. You're going to a maximum-security cell, and you will never see the light of day to witness your son grow up."

As the police officers marched Ryan out in handcuffs, his mother screaming and hysterically clinging to her ruined pearls behind him, the heavy fog of oppression that had hung over my life for five years finally broke.
"Get me to the hospital," I told the EMTs, closing my eyes. "My son is ready to be born."
