Chapter 12 - THE VIDEO
Martin denied it.
But Camille had already found another clue.
A security recording.
It showed Martin entering David's office.
Then Lorraine.
Then a third person.
Thomas.
But there was something else.
A fourth figure.
Young.
Tall.
Standing in the shadows.
Andre watched the footage.
“That's me.”
Camille looked at him.
He stared at the screen.
“I came back.”
The footage continued.
Andre walked into the room.
His father turned.
They argued.
Then Andre left.
Minutes later, David collapsed.
Andre covered his face.
“I didn't know.”
Camille sat beside him.
“You were eighteen.”
“I should have known.”
“No.”
“I left him.”
“You didn't kill him.”
Andre looked at her.
“You still trust me?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because I know what fear looks like.”
She held his hand.
“And I know you.”
Suddenly the video froze.
A timestamp appeared.
Then a new file opened.
The camera angle changed.
The person behind it was visible.
Thomas.
But Thomas wasn't alone.
Beside him stood Lorraine.
And between them stood someone Camille recognized.
Her father's former attorney.
The man everyone believed had died twelve years earlier.
Camille whispered:
“He's alive.”
The attorney looked directly into the camera.
Then he spoke.

“Camille, if you're watching this, the empire is already in danger.”
The video ended.
