Chapter 11 - The Real Enemy

The name was impossible.
Roman's own grandfather.
He had never died naturally.
He had been running the organization from the shadows for decades.
Kincaid was only the public face.
Roman had inherited an empire designed to consume him.
Every business.
Every enemy.
Every betrayal.
Even the triplets.
It had all been planned.
The old man wanted Roman's sons because they were heirs.
Roman stared at Marianne.
"Where is he?"
"Alive."
"Where?"
Marianne hesitated.
"In New York."
Roman immediately reached for his phone.
Naomi stopped him.
"Don't."
He looked at her.
"You heard what she said."
"Exactly."
Naomi pointed toward the babies.
"He wants you angry."
Roman paused.
"Why?"
"Because angry men make predictable decisions."
Roman stared at her.
She was right.
The trap was obvious.
So they changed the plan.
Instead of going to New York, Roman announced publicly that he was surrendering his empire.
Within hours, every criminal organization on the East Coast reacted.
Kincaid panicked.
Roman smiled.
The trap had worked.
Someone inside the organization contacted him.
A location.
A time.
And one sentence:
Come alone if you want your sons to live.
Roman read it.
Naomi looked over his shoulder.
"You're not going alone."
Roman shook his head.
"No."
May you like
He looked at her.
"We're going together."
