Chapter 10 - The Choice
Kincaid gave Naomi one minute.
One minute to choose between Roman and the three babies.
Naomi stared at him.
Then she smiled.
Kincaid frowned.
"What?"
"You made one mistake."
"What?"
"You assumed I was afraid of you."
Naomi handed Jude to Victor.
Then she walked toward Kincaid.
Roman shouted:
"Naomi, don't!"
She kept walking.
When she was close enough, she whispered:
"You don't understand mothers."
Then she slammed her elbow into his throat.
Everything exploded.
Roman broke free.
Victor grabbed the babies.
The warehouse became chaos.
Kincaid escaped through a side door.
Roman chased him.
Naomi followed.
Outside, Kincaid disappeared into the rain.
Roman stopped.
Victor arrived.
"He got away."
Roman looked at Naomi.
"You could have died."
"So could you."
He stared at her.
Then he pulled her into his arms.
Naomi froze.
Roman whispered:
"I thought I lost you."
She closed her eyes.
For the first time, she didn't pull away.
Then a voice came from behind them.
"Roman."
Marianne stood beneath an umbrella.
She was holding a document.
"There's something you need to know."
Roman turned.
"What?"
Marianne looked at Naomi.
"Your father didn't betray Kincaid."
She swallowed.
"Your father was killed because he discovered that Kincaid wasn't the real mastermind."
Roman's face went cold.
"Who was?"

"The person who ordered everything."
