Thirty minutes later, Marcus stood outside the operating room.
Every second felt endless.
Then heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway.
Hospital Director Daniel Carter arrived personally.
Board members followed behind him.
Marcus frowned.
"I wasn't expecting the director."

She had assumed this was another wealthy family quietly handling another scandal.

The doors opened.
Khloe was being moved into intensive care.
Daniel stepped forward.
He gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face.
"My little niece..."
Marcus froze.
"Niece?"
Daniel looked up.
"Khloe never told you?"
Marcus slowly shook his head.
Daniel sighed.
"My younger sister left this city years ago."
"Khloe is her only daughter."
"She refused to use our family name because she wanted to build her own life."
Silence swept across the hallway.
The billionaire husband had never known...
His wife was related to one of the most respected medical families in the country.
Daniel turned toward hospital security.
"I want every surveillance recording."
"Every hallway."
"Every elevator."
"Every private suite."
"No edits."
"No delays."
Isabella felt her heartbeat race.
She quietly reached into her purse.
Her phone was gone.
One of the guards already held it inside an evidence bag.
Marcus noticed.
"What were you trying to delete?"
She said nothing.
