Two nights later, the estate was breached.
Not violently.
Quietly.
A man entered through the service tunnels.
Old security codes.
Old access.
Codes only someone from the inner Moretti circle would know.
He didn’t come for Vincent.
He came for Lily.
Marco intercepted him in the hallway.
The intruder raised his hands.
“I’m not here to fight,” he said.
“I’m here to finish what she started.”
Vincent arrived seconds later.
“Who are you?” Vincent demanded.
The man looked up.
And smiled.
“Someone who knows what she is.”
He slid a folder across the floor.
It stopped at Vincent’s feet.
Inside—
Medical files.
Genetic profiling.
A classified program name burned out of the top corner.
PROJECT LUCIA
Vincent felt the temperature drop in the room.
“That program was shut down,” Marco whispered.
The man shook his head.
“No,” he said. “It was moved.”
A pause.
“And the maid wasn’t a maid.”
