PART 13: THE COLLATERAL COLLAPSE

PART 13: THE COLLATERAL COLLAPSE

The aftershocks of Santiago’s confession completely leveled the remaining family network.

At 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Mariana’s fiancé, a junior venture partner named Roberto, sat inside his private club, his face pale as he stared at a formal default notice delivered by a courier. The document bore the official seal of our corporate legal department.

"They're calling the loan, Roberto," his father said, setting a drink down with a hard, dry click against the table. "The three million dollars you invested into your tech startup was backed by a secondary guarantee from Santiago’s logistics shares. Since those shares have been legally wiped out by the receivership, the bank is executing a full collateral recovery."

Roberto rubbed his face, his posture completely collapsing. "Our wedding is in three weeks, Dad. The catering, the deposit for the resort... everything was tied to that line."

"The wedding is dead, Roberto," his father replied coldly. "The Salazar Group just bought the resort holding company this morning. They didn't just cancel the booking; they flagged your entire venture firm for an immediate compliance audit under the Anti-Money Laundering Act."

Mariana burst into the private room, her face tear-stained, her phone still active in her hand. "Roberto, the movers are at my apartment! They're taking the furniture! They say my lease was paid through a corporate card that has been flagged for grand larceny!"

The entire lifestyle they had paraded around in like they earned it was turning into nothing but a series of default notices, repossession logs, and public shame. They had spent years treating a successful woman like an inconvenience, and now the truth was dismantling their world line by line.
