Chapter 3 – Justice Served (Final Chapter)

Police officers arrived only minutes later.
One of the housekeepers had secretly called 911 after witnessing the assault.
The officers photographed every injury on my back.
The riding crop.
The blood on the marble floor.
The torn divorce papers.
Madison attempted to slip quietly out the back door.
An officer stopped her.
"Ms. Blake, we also need your statement."
She lowered her head.
For the first time, she looked afraid.
Nathan was placed in handcuffs.
"You can't do this!" he shouted.
"I'm Nathan Brooks!"
The arresting officer replied calmly,
"Today you're a man under arrest for aggravated assault and domestic violence."
As they led him away, he turned toward me.
"Sophia... please."
"I was angry."
"I made a mistake."
I met his eyes one final time.
"No."
"A mistake is forgetting an anniversary."
"Choosing to hurt someone who loves you is a decision."
The front door closed behind him.
I never saw him again.
Eight months later, Nathan pleaded guilty to multiple criminal charges and was sentenced to prison.
His company declared bankruptcy.
Madison disappeared from society as every luxury brand quietly ended their partnerships with her.
The mansion was sold.
Every dollar from my legal settlement was donated to organizations helping survivors of domestic abuse.
As for me...
I returned to the quiet life I had once loved.
Not because I needed my father's fortune.
But because I had finally remembered my own worth.
One spring afternoon, I stood beside my father overlooking the ocean.
"You were right," I admitted.
"He never loved who I was."
My father smiled gently.
"No."
"But one day someone will."
I slipped my hand into his.
"I don't need revenge anymore."
"What do you need?"
I looked toward the horizon.
"Peace."
For the first time in years...
May you like
I already had it.
