Chapter 5 - The Freezing of the Logistics

"Don't ever look at my client again, Mr. Whitman," the lead guard warned, his voice low and dangerous.
Richard straightened his suit jacket, trying to recover his dignity, though his breath was coming in short, panicked gasps. "Fine! Keep the house, Amanda. It’s just brick and mortar. I still control the logistics accounts. I’ll have the company funds transferred to a private account before the banks open on Monday."
"You won't, Richard," I said, stepping forward so he could see the absolute certainty in my eyes. "The corporate audit I just completed in Monterrey wasn't for a client. It was for Whitman Logistics. I found the three hundred thousand dollars you siphoned from the payroll account to pay for Brooke's private clinic fees and the apartment in Polanco."
Richard went entirely pale, the last traces of his bourbon-fueled confidence draining from his face.
"That... that was a corporate loan," he stammered.

"A loan requires board approval, Richard," I said. "And since the board consists of me, Arthur, and my father’s estate, you essentially stole from the company. The financial intelligence unit was notified at 11:00 p.m. Your corporate tokens have been revoked. Your phone is no longer connected to the network."
As if on cue, the screen of the corporate smartphone in Richard's hand went entirely black, displaying a single, red message: DEVICE DEACTIVATED BY ADMINISTRATOR.
