Part 3: The Restructuring of Margaret and Cole

At 7:45 a.m. the following morning, the morning sun broke over the front lawn, casting long, sharp shadows across the driveway. Cole stood beside his sports car, wearing my tailored leather jacket and flashing that arrogant, high-society grin as our mother Margaret adjusted her double-strand pearl necklace on the porch. They were holding a folder of real estate listings, already discussing the liquidation parameters of our family home.
The quiet of the suburban neighborhood was instantly shattered by the low, authoritative rumble of three dark government SUVs cutting through the security gates.
The vehicles braked sharply against the cobblestones, and six uniform federal marshals and a military police detail stepped onto the grass, their boots crunching with absolute precision.
"Cole Rivers?" the lead investigator announced, stepping forward with a certified federal seizure warrant.
Cole's grin completely vanished, his face turning a pasty, sickly white as he gripped his car keys. "What the hell is this? This is a private residence. If this is an audit regarding Rivers Logistics, you need to speak with my compliance team downtown."
"Your compliance team was locked out of the corporate network twenty minutes ago, Cole," I said, stepping out from the front door of the house, dressed in my full uniform, with Ava standing securely beside me.
Margaret gasped, her manicured hand flying to her pearls as she looked from my uniform to the armed detail closing the perimeter. "Daniel! What are you doing? This is your brother! We handled the estate transfers to protect the family from your deployment liabilities! You're making a scene in front of the neighbors!"
"The estate transfers were fraudulent, Mother," I delivered the execution, my voice bone-chillingly flat under the morning light. "You thought because I was overseas, you could treat my wife like a punching bag and use my legacy as collateral for Cole's bad investments. You forgot that every asset under my name is federally monitored under the Service Members Civil Relief Act."
The lead marshal stepped forward, grabbing Cole's arms and slamming his chest flat against the hood of the sports car. The expensive jacket he had stolen from my closet wrinkled against the metal as the cold steel handcuffs clicked firmly around his wrists.
"Daniel! Please! You can't do this to your own blood!" Cole shrieked, his arrogant high-society composure completely breaking down as the marshals stripped my watch from his wrist and logged it as stolen state evidence. "The firm will collapse! We'll lose the deeds to the downtown office!"

"Let it burn, Cole," I said, turning my back on them without a single ounce of hesitation as the transport vehicles began to pull away into the city traffic.
I wrapped my arm gently around Ava, holding her close against my side as the security detail finished locking down the property tokens. The predatory family structure was permanently liquidated, the forged corporate contracts were legally erased, and our home was finally secure. The ledger was perfectly balanced, the battle was won, and we were finally safe, protected, and home.
