Chapter 11 - THE BETRAYAL
Everything collapsed in one night.
Matthew hadn't kidnapped Elena.
He had kidnapped Isabella.
The woman in the video was an impersonator.
The entire operation had been designed to make Adrian expose the hidden vault.
And it worked.
Because someone had betrayed them.
Someone inside Adrian's organization.
Rosa discovered the betrayal when she saw the security footage.
One guard.
He had been present every time Matthew attacked.
Adrian recognized him.
"Thomas."
The man disappeared.
Rosa noticed something else.
A small black rose tattoo on his wrist.
"The marker."
Adrian looked at her.
"He's connected to my father."
Thomas was found at the docks.
He confessed.
But before Adrian could question him further, a shot rang out.
Thomas fell.
Matthew had silenced him.
A message appeared on Adrian's phone.
You have twelve hours.
Then a location.
The old Caruso workshop.
Rosa's stomach dropped.
"They're there."
Adrian grabbed his coat.
"I'm coming."
Rosa stopped him.
"We're going."
"No."
"Adrian."
"I won't risk you."
"You don't get to decide anymore."
She stepped closer.
"You married me."
His expression softened.
"That was supposed to protect you."
"It did."
"How?"
"Because now I know what I'm fighting for."
He kissed her forehead.
Then they left.
The workshop was empty.
Too empty.
Rosa noticed the silence.
"No."
Adrian looked at her.
"What?"
"My father always left the back radio on."
She walked toward it.
A timer was attached.
Three seconds.
Two.
